EURO 2016: THE BEST GOALKEEPERS
It has been an incredible season of football this year. We’ve watched in awe as unlikely title winner Leicester City managed to fend off the greatest teams the Premier League has to offer to become champion for the first time in the club’s history. We’ve seen England come back against arch-rivals Germany in a thrilling 2-3 comeback in Berlin and now we can look forward to plenty of football action as we ready ourselves for the start of Euro 2016. There’s bound to be a lot of memorable goals during the tournament, but the world-class keepers are expected to deal with the formidable strike forces that they'll undooubtedly face. Well, here's a list of the top 10 goalkeepers who will be at the Euros.
- NUMBER 10: SALVATORE SIRIGU
He is one of the two keepers on this list who are second-choice but still, one of the best... This season, Sirigu had to fight against Kevin Trapp in order to be the first-choice keeper for PSG and he managed to gain a spot in PSG's starting 11 for La Ligue. Only one thing is for sure, the Italians have world-class backup for their captain Gigi Buffon.
- NUMBER 9: RUI PATRICIO
Patricio is, was and will be a world-class keeper. He is Portugal's number one keeper and a brick wall for them (as long as his defenders cooperate with him). Great at organizing his defense, Patricio is truly someone capable of great things. Can't wait to see how he will perform for Portugal.
- NUMBER 8: HUGO LLORIS
Lloris was without a doubt Tottenham's savior this season. With a bad defense and a weak team structure, Lloris had to be excellent every time he faced a strong and dangerous opponent. Well, this won't be the case with France as the captain will have a better defense to work with. Expect great things from him.
- NUMBER 7: THIBAUT COURTOIS
Courtois enters the Euros with plenty to prove after a disappointing season at Chelsea. So far the physical rigors of English football have not suited him as much as the Spanish game. He must quickly recover and rediscover his form with his country.
- NUMBER 6: JOE HART
Extraordinary keeper with exceptional 1vs1 skills and great reflexes. A goalkeeper clearly capable of making his team's way through the group stages. Just wait to see him in action against Russia this Friday...
- NUMBER 5: DAVID DE GEA
This is the goalkeeper who won the Premier League's SAVE OF THE SEASON 2016 award. Even though he is extremely good, he will most likely be benched for the Euros. He is an upcoming star and he will be Spain's keeper after Iker Casillas' possible retirement. Still, he is one of the best and if he becomes first-choice, he will be a strong contestant for the Golden Glove.
- NUMBER 4: MANUEL NEUER
He was the winner of the Golden Glove awards for the 2014 World Cup. He is the game's best sweeper-keeper and one of the best shot-stoppers. He is Germany's first-choice keeper and sometimes the captain (when Lahm is absent). To make it even better, Neuer has announced that he is determined to take more risks while playing as a sweeper so I am sure that we will have a good time watching him come out of his box and humiliate his opponents.
- NUMBER 3: PETR CECH
Like the other two remaining keepers of this list, Cech is an idol, a great captain for his national team and a legend. He is one of the most iconic players of the game, with his "helmet" being his "trademark". Cech managed to win the Premier League Golden Glove even though it was his first season with Arsenal FC. He is a very powerful figure inside the pitch and clearly the best player on his national team.
- NUMBER 2: Iker Casillas
Casillas' performance with his club (FC Porto) hasn't been the best this season but this isn't the case with his country's team. Casillas has played a really important role in Spain's matches. He has been phenomenal, helping his team to win some really important games. He is the most experienced goalkeeper of the tournament. He is the captain, the idol and Spain's brick wall but his retirement is getting closer and closer every year. I hope he has a great tournament and that Spain manages to reach the Final and win it all!!!
- NUMBER 1: GIANLUIGI BUFFON
He is Italy's most important player and the captain of the team. Even though he is 38 years old he is in great form. He will do his best to ensure that Italy will go as far as it is possible. For the Italians, he is the key for their success. This legendary keeper will most likely be the best one in the Euros.

Casillas revealed the news on Twitter, adding that the baby boy was named Lucas and that both the baby and his mother are doing fine.
“Everything went great,” Casillas tweeted.
The tweet included a black and white photo showing only the hand and mouth of Lucas, who was born on Thursday in a hospital in Spain.
According to Carbonero, the newborn will be a perfect teammate for his elder brother Martin, who is two years old.
Casillas will be representing the national team at next week’s Euro 2016 in France.
